Fire of Brazil Churrascaria: Don't Eat the Day You Go Here!

Restaurant Name: Fire of Brazil Churrascaria
The basic layout is this... you start out with a salad bar with a nice mix of eclectic and normal foods. If you order the meat portion of the service you return to your table and turn a little card to green. Pretty soon about ten servers will bring around different cuts of meat (turkey, steaks, sausages, etc.) to all the tables and you simply take what you want. When you go to Fire of Brazil you're doing it for the food, not the ambience. That being said, its not that it was done in poor taste, its just that its fairly wide open seating because of the way in which they serve, and that makes it seem a little like a cattle call.

Brennan's: Home of Bananas Foster!

Restaurant Name: Brennan's
Brennan's is very upscale, with excellent food, ambience, and waitstaff.
Favorite Dish: I had the trio combo of a southern baked apple with double cream, eggs hussarde, and bananas foster. Each plate that was brought out was even better than the excellent one that preceded it.

Restaurant Name: Court of Two Sisters, The
Beautiful courtyard in a city that is full of beautiful courtyards. If you come here, make sure you're seated as the sun goes down so you can enjoy the full spectrum as the lights creep down the buildings and the courtyard lights take over.
Favorite Dish: The filet was very good besides being a tad raw for my taste.

Commander's Palace: One Of The Older Restaurants in NOLA

Restaurant Name: Commander's Palace
Interior was much nicer than exterior (the outside is not much to look at). Overall, service was excellent. If you're visiting NOLA, you'll most likely have to take a taxi to get here, but you could easily incorporate an impromptu tour of the garden district if you have time (we didn't, but I wish we had). Very impressive wine list.
Favorite Dish: I had the "Harris Ranch" Black Angus Filet Mignon with truffled buttermilk mashed potatoes. The steak was good, the mashed potatoes were exceptional.

Restaurant Name: Johnny's Po-Boys
The ambience is simple, tightly packed sandwich shop. It is what it is...
Favorite Dish: Not only do they have the best oyster po-boys in the French Quarter, but they also have the widest selection of things to put on them (or on any sandwich).

Ember's Steakhouse: Great Steak, Great View

Restaurant Name: Ember's Steakhouse
This place has a great balcony overlooking Bourbon St. If you go in the summer, try to get there right as the sun goes down and you should be able to get a table on the balcony overlooking all of the craziness down on Bourbon Street. The service, as has been the case most places I've been in NOLA, was awesome.
Favorite Dish: I got a filet (excellent) and my wife got the special, which was a chicken dish (also excellent).

Restaurant Name: Petunia's
It took forever to get in this place! We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning so it was probably worse than normal. But, even with the wait, it was well worth the price. The food was fantastic and cheaper than most anywhere else near the Quarter.
Favorite Dish: I had the eggs Benedict (always good) and my wife had the Pain Perdue (New Orleans style French Toast) which was awesome. Her meal alone could have fed both of us.
