Surprising as it may seem, this big town is the capital of Australia. Basically Melbourne and Sydney always argue, so Canberra was built for the purpose of housing the Australian government - as neither Sydney or Melbourne would ever agree to let the other city be the capital. As such, Canberra is built in the middle of a big sheep farm, kind of half way between Sydney and Melbourne. Aussies spend an astronomical amount of money on this city, as it is completely planned down to the very last blade of grass - so it tends to have a rather drab image. One always has to wonder whether there is more intelligence in the sheep that live outside this strange city, or the human inhabitants - most of whom are politicians or public servants. Baaaa Baaaa!!! |
