A wonderful lifetime opportunity For a year I will be living on this idyllic island, cut off somewhat from the rest of the world.
What an opportunity to visit here, not only as a tourist, but to see what life is really like 'away from it all'.
I love it, although I do miss the busy-ness of city life. Seychelles is beautiful but more importantly the people of Seychelles are so unspoilt, friendly and kind.
Island life offers its own set of challenges, the sea is so blue and the sand so white, that it is blinding; the islanders pace of life is slow and hence a lesson in patience is given; the conveniences we are used to in North America are lacking, but heck ... I think I can handle it.
Going shopping here for groceries is a day long chore. Having said that .... never have I tasted fruit that is so sweet than the bananas, payapas, mangoes that grow just outside my door. The ocean here is the deepest azure and the sea sand so white it blinds, with the backdrop of huge mountains and bright green, thick tropical vegetation, there is nothing more beautiful on God's earth ... great place for a vacation, and a wonderful place for a sabbatical. |
