Bournemouth Travel Guide: 206 reviews and 441 photos
There is something about the British seaside cities that I don't quite like.. I think they are rather depressing any other time of the year except summer. There are also a masses of hotels, guest houses and bed&breakfast places in Bournemouth and I always wonder who stays in them in Winter.. I would imagine they are all pretty much empty when the warm season ends. I might, of course, be totally wrong, since I don't spend that much time in the seaside towns of this country even though I've visited Bournemouth pretty much every season in the past.
The city is most well known for its beach, which is a several miles long sandy beach. However, I was gutted to find out it is nothing like the ones I've visited elsewhere in the world, since mixed in with the sand, was a whole load of stones! Not very pleasant to walk bare footed or lay on.
The city has been characterised to be vibrant and cosmopolitan with buzzing nightlife.. I cannot but disagree based on my experiences, but then again I've only been out there handful of times..
All in all, I find Bournemouth one of the dullest seaside resorts that I've been to - but that's just my opinion. Lots of other people will enjoy the town immensely.
They do have an aquarium, award-winning gardens, theatre, shops and possibility to do water sports.

I used to think like you until I moved to bournemouth. The sea is beautiful all year & the weather is mild. Last winter they pumped the beaches with sand which led to this uncomfortable pebbles, which locals are demanding to be cleared.
Totally agree with you on Bournemouth - its also a very unfriendly town.
