Sultry, sizzling Durban

Durban-by-the-sea

Durban-by-the-Sea, as it's often referred to. It's one of South Africa's main ports... but very developed. My heart lies in Durban because it is my original hometown. So my depiction of the place will be spot-on!
Durban has a bit of everything for everyone - if I can put it like that. If you are into sea-fun, nightlife, a nature/ wildlife -freek, clubs, outdoors, etc etc, then Durb's is the place to be. With a warm sub-tropical climate, cool sea-breeze, gentle summer rainfalls, it boasts the ideal seasons for the all-year round traveller.
Along the coastline of the Indian ocean, there;s plenty of fun things to do, with off- and on- season venues that range from plain to spectacular. The sunset over the horizon is one of the prettiest things to watch - from dark crimson hues to violets and oranges...
The people are pretty layed-back and definitely cosmopolitan. There's always a warm hospitable feeling.
Further in-land, the 'highlands' or country outbacks are spread with luscious green hills and valleys. The mountain peaks of the Drakensburg - with suitable accomodation for hikers, or highlanders - stretches quite a distance.
Travelling either to the North or the South of Durban means an exciting adventure of places and people to see.
Durban is well known for its traditional Indian cuisine - spicy - the best curries in the world (in my opinion). But there's also a much broader cuisine to suit every pallete...

Durban is the place to be for a real good holiday experience - though prepare well for humidity - pretty good for the skin!:-)
