Munich was the last city in my three city birthday tour through Europe (Rome and Paris being the first two legs). I had not actually planned on visiting Munich when this trip started forming in my mind a few years ago, but when my brother the BMW fanatic signed on as my travel buddy, we had to visit the home of BMW. It was probably the best surprise on the whole trip. I absolutely loved Munich and was sorry that we didn't plan to spend more time there. Many of the attractions were a short 20 minute walk away by the Marienplatz, and attractions that were further away such as the BMW Welt were a short subway ride away via the Hauptbahnhof. Everyone we met was very nice, and the history of the city and the role it played in World War II was fascinating. There is so much that we didn't get to do, plus there is always Octoberfest, so I will definitely be coming back someday!
