Beautiful and Romantic Paris

Bonjour Paris!

The Arc de Triomphe on a crisp autumn day
Paris was the second city on my three city birthday tour through Europe. I found Paris to be quite charming. It was a little hard not speaking French but a little French went a long way and many people we ran into spoke some English.

We stayed in the 19th Arrondissement at St. Christopher's Inn, a hostel that just opened in January 2008. It was a quick five minute walk to the nearest Metropolitain (subway) station, which allowed us to travel all over the city easily.

The food we had was delish (we didn't splurge or anything, being budget travelers and all) but we did indulge in crepes and other street food.

I think the best thing we did was take the free Paris walking tour through a company called Sandeman's New Europe Tours. One of their tour guides picked a group of us up from our hostel and we went on an approximately four hour walking tour all over the city (we did take the Metro to get to the Latin Quarter as the 19th arrondissement is far from many of the attractions - this is actually good since the tour guide shows you how to buy your tickets and how to read the Metro maps to get to where you are going). We saw so much of Paris that we never would have seen that day had we decided to just explore on our own.
