"Memorial for Ron McIntosh" Winnipeg by Greggor58

I had booked a flight to Winnipeg to say goodbye to one of my favorite Uncle's this past Summer.I had booked it after a couple of days after hearing that he only had a month left on this Earth...in fact two days later Ron decided that he was going to "let go" and he passed from this life onto his next.
Ron was an extremely humble man with so many good qualities that when my own father passed in 1998 Ron quickly became my surrogate "Dad"...
His amazing ability to listen without judgment and through his gentle words and guidance I was always able to form my own decisions about what it was that I was seeking his guidance about.
Ron trained and worked for a number of years in Western Canada,Saskatchewan and Manitoba, finally settling down in Winnipeg...
Ron was a Minister of the United Church but was retired for a number of years before he became ill with the disease that would finally take his life.
He was active and much loved by his community and had many many good friends. Ron is a man that is missed by all whom knew him.
Ron worked with the Aids Hospice in Winnipeg,he did work with inmates at the Stony Mountain Penitentiary, and he guided people participating in Twelve Step Recovery programs as well as other notable and virtuous activities.
He lived his life with Honor, Dignity and Truth.
So I made my way to Winnipeg and instead of saying my goodbye's I was able to be there with my Aunt Maureen and my cousins to spend a few days retracing steps that Ron and I had shared on different occasions
Twice in years past I had driven through Winnipeg on my way to or from the West Coast of Canada.
Winnipeg was a comfortable half-way point and a good excuse to stop driving for a few days and hang out with Ron and Maureen, something that I always looked forward to doing.
Ron and I used those opportunities to venture around his Town...and he gladly showed me places and things about Winnipeg that were meaningful to him.
He also took the time to show me a few spots that I wanted to see while I was there...so we shared some moments together and talked about life and family. He helped me to make some decisions that were important to me!
So....during this long weekend in Winnipeg there were many words to be shared about Ron,many feelings to be had...and steps to retrace, full of happy memories that I have of my time with Ron.

Your uncle was a stud. He was a Blue Bomber fan too?
Thats a beautiful garden setting with the little cottage, and isn't the stained glass windows very different, so modern really!
