Georgian music

Georgian polyphonic singing is one of the most mesmerizing sounds I've ever heard. Some of my travelers compare it to barbershop, but it's deeper than that. Conversely, some have compared it to the chanting of monks, but it's usually more lighthearted than that. To my ears, listening to an hour of Georgian polyphonic singing offers an ideal balance of spiritual and folk music and is one of the most authentic experiences one can have in Georgia. The singing is usually done by men accompanied by little more than an acoustic guitar and Georgian wine. They sing songs about the people and cities of Georgia, beautiful women and tales of battle. The harmonies are transcendent and unforgettable, just like Georgia itself.
