Banff Townsite

Mt Alymer and Tunnel Mountain
Nestled into a curve of the Bow River before it heads out the last valley to the Great Plains is Banff, the townsite. This small town is a bustling burough. Originally a train stop along the Canadian Pacifc Railroad (CPRR), Banff has grown into the southern entry to the Canadian Rockies.

The natural hot springs became an attraction luring travelors here for the medicinal values of the springs. Today, it is an all year resort with winter and summer activites drawing people all year.

Bow River Valley

Bow Valley

The Bow River winds it's way southward from the Columbia Icefields on the divide between Jasper National Park and Banff. Running cold and cloudy, the river has created this thoroughfaire into the mists of the Canadian peaks.
