Aukiki River Festival

This is the 3rd or 4th year for the Aukiki River Festival. It's located at the Collier Lodge Hunting camp (being restored). There's blackpowder, an ongoing archeological dig and fur trader encampments.

Annual Fall Pork Fest

Last Saturday in August. It's one of the few one-day festivals in the state. Before 7:00 the races begin. S.R. 49 is closed through town. This creates a long detour for through traffic, but makes the center of town comfortable for people. Booths have been sprouting along the sidewalks since Friday Night, with the last ones going up Saturday morning as traffic dies away in the street. The Fire Dept has three large grills set up for the noon crowds. Pork Chops, Pork Sausage, Kielbasa, and several other grilled port delights. Actually, we missed the festival as we were had commitments south of town, but we did spend the earliest hours of the day, until 9:00 a.m. in town. The festivities get underway with the parade at 10. I'll provide the details next year.
