"Took 5 years to get here - worth it." Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument by Toughluck

It's one of the lesser visited national parks in the country, but it is also one of the unique ones. First, it's about a period of time, when all of the strange lifeforms, i.e., triolbytes and dinosaurs were gone of had become creatures that we would recognize today. Yet, the fossils are just as interesting. Here is a large collection of insect fossils'. Yes, insects. You'd expect them to be crushed and unrecognizable, but they are aren't. Then, there are the petrified tree stumps. 10-15 ft (3-5 m) tall.

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Such a unique collection and a beautiful area.
  • Cons:Come prepared. services are available but limited.
