Community History

As far back as the 1st indians to visit the area, people have come to Hot Springs, Arkansas to take the cure. The 'cure' could be for any of a multitude of aliments. As times changes and medicine moved into the world of science, Hot Springs still was the place to go. The Army/Navy Hospital at the south end of Bathhouse Row (set on the hill), was a major center for rehabilitation services for wounded veterans of World War II. Today, it is run by the State as the Hot Springs Rehabilitatino Center and still provides hope for disabled Americans.

Like Camping_Girl, I never thought of Arkansas as a tourist destination. However, I quickly changed my mind after exploring Arkansas back in 2004. Thanks for such a wonderful Hot Springs page.
