We were lucky to have been invited by a friend living in Ciudad Bolívar. So we spent a few days in Carácas and most of our time in Bolívar city and state.

As Venezuela now officially is a bolivarian republic, we thought it fitting to illustrate this intro with a pic of one of many statues of Simón Bolívar, Venezuela's most famous hero, who liberated a large part of South America from Spanish domination.
