By our kowledge the only accommodation around Teluk Terima and West Bali National Park. We did not take a 1-bedroom Ocean View Villa at USD 484 (exclusive of 21% service and tax!), but settled for a Menjangan Mangrove Gazebo at USD 50 inclusive service, tax and breakfast. Not a bad choice, you sleep with the sound of waves rippling beneath you, have to go a wooden walkway to the bathroom, and can have your breakfast served at sunrise on the shore.

Unique Qualities: Have a look at the website. The resort is situated on the border of the national park. It was built en is being run with great care for the environment.
If you are on a budget, the gazebo's are still good value for money.
And if you have money to burn and want to get away from it all, this is an ideal place.

The resort will arrange all kinds of activities, including diving at Menjangan island: two dives for two persons at USD 160 (excl. 21%).

The published prices are high, but you may negotiate an off-season discount of up to 50%.

Sembiran is a remote village a short distance uphill from the coast east of Singaraja. Theo was introduced here at the yearly festival by the last king of Buleleng, Anak Agung Pandji Tisna. The festival featured unique dances like a stylized parade of the village defence forces, and the women dressed in their home-made indigo cloth.

The village considers itself Bali Aga, but they are more modern than Terunyan and Tenganan. The villagers live in brick houses as usual in Indonesia, and some have a university degree. As Sembiran is not on the main tourist menu, the village head got the idea of building a traditional house, or rather compound, as an attraction for tourists.

Unique Qualities: We did not stay over here, because the adat house was not yet operational. But we certainly will when we are in the neighbourhood again. The accommodation may look spartan, but it is fitted with modern sanitaton. It is situated on a hill from where you have a fine view on Sembiran village.
