The Origin of the World?

The turquoise waters of Titicaca Lake are a magnet as powerful as the Andes. Colourful people living on floating islands, ancient local customs and some off the beaten path Aymara remains are a delight for photographers and show you another side of Per˙ as interesting as its colonial cities or the Inca remains. But a visit of the highest navigable lake in the world cannot be completed without its Bolivian shore and islands, especially Isla del Sol: on this quiet island, many many years before Macchu Pichu or Sacred Valley, born the largest empire in America, the Inca Empire.

Is it not attractive enough for a exploration walk?

Pros and Cons
  • Pros:Its blue water, local people, ancient remains and legends
  • Cons:I missed Tiawanako! (and I am still crying about it)

Titicaca is indeed a magical island, you took some beautiful pictures! Also have great memories of Puno where I attended Festival de la Candelaria with more than 200 groups of dancers from all over the region, dressed in colourful pre-Columbian costumes.

Lovely page about this beautiful spot :-) I agree that Puno has little to offer but the Uros were indeed fascinating. We didn't get to Sillustani - wish we had, it sounds interesting! Likewise Bolivia - the border was closed when we were there :-(

I am the first here :) Was looking for some carnival in Copacabana, but it tells only of hiking and walking. . . ;) Sleeping in a hammock at 4000 must be relaxing!
