While walking along Futterstrasse, right before going over the Kramerbrucke is an ice cream shop that my cousin Rudi could not resist! He loves Eis (German for "ice cream") and offered to buy us (my other cousin and I) an Eis. Of course we did not refuse. I was a proud holder of a scoop of black berry and a scoop of black current Eis on a cone waffle. YUM und danke Rudi!

The Bartholomäusturm is the only existing part of the former Bartholomäuskirche. The Bartholomäuskirche was completed in 1182 and was one of the oldest churches in the city of Erfurt. The original tower built in the 13th century was destroyed by fire. The church built a new set of towers in 1412. In 1571 the church was closed and in 1660 the building was destroyed by fire. The remnants of the church and tower were bombarded during WWII and the roof burnt down. Today the tower is part of the city museum. Today you can listen to 60 bells ranging in weight from 20 kg to 2393 kg three times a day. The bells toll daily at 10 o'clock, 12 o'clock and 18 o'clock.
