"Entering Pea Island from the north" Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge by lonestar_philomath

The bridge over the River Kwai

Not really, it is the bridge over the Oregon Inlet. The first bridge I crossed from Nags Head to Pea Island. Note the stickers on the wind shield! No, I did not drive my car all the way from Texas. The rental company had this in stock. How Dollar Rent a Car selected this car for me is a wonder.

First sighting

How wonderful to see the Atlantic Ocean again. I took this picture about 10:00 (in the morning) as the tide was rising. I was just coming off the first bridge when I managed to take my first picture of Pea Island. High tide was at 14:00. I was thrilled to see the white caps and beach - felt like I had come home. There is just something endearing about the Atlantic, perhaps its in my blood (ancestors from 1700's to present were/are French Naval personnel).
