"Vulgarian village" Rothenberg by lonestar_philomath

Rothenberg was in the middle of the Thirty Years War which was caused by religion. There are several old churches and a former Jewish synagog now a memorial.

Something I did not know until recently is that Rothenberg ob der Tauber was used for the Vulgarian village scenes in the movie Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!
Many school trips go to Rothenberg.

There are so many shops in the old town. Not my kind of thing but still there.

There were about 75 students in this group chaperoned by several adults and an enthusiastic (I assume) professor. She was rattling off so much information (in French) about the city to the kids that I forgot I was in Germany! I turned to my cousin and mentioned something and he just stared back at me. Then I realized I was in Germany and had to switch languages and restate to my cousin in German. I love speaking different languages! One of the benefits being a philomath!
