Eisenach was formed from three small villages that over time grew, and then formed into the city of Eisenach. Eisenach was first mentioned in 1180.
This trip I found Eisenach by mistake. I took the wrong turn somewhere along my drive and got lost. I headed for the largest city to get back on track which was Eisenach. I found it impossible to find and gratis parking in town so I ended up just driving through and back on the autobahn.
Sites to see in Eisenach include: Stadtschloss (town palace) Rathaus Kreuznacher House and dukal residence Martin Luther House & Monument Bach House & Monument "Goldener Löwe" memorial site Reuter-Wagner-Museum Kartaus Garden and Wandelhalle The Narrow House Nikolaikirche (Nikolai Church) Georgenkirche (Church of St George) Eisenach Theatre Hauptbahnhof (Main Station)
Keep watching my pages as I shall return to Eisenach sometime in the future!
This is a picture of the Wartburg castle situated on a 1230-foot (410 m) hill to the southwest of Eisenach. |
