Once upon a cruise...

About 8 years ago, I won a cruise. It was a good experience that I never would have had, had I not won it. Cruises are a good way to get a guided overview of an area. Then you can decide whether or not you want to go back to spend some real time in any particular place. If I ever do it again, it will be the Alaska cruise (highly rated by my cousin and aunt), or perhaps a cruise of the Greek Isles. That's a part of the world I've always longed to see.

Dining Al Fresco...

Add a beach and I'm hooked. It's all about sensory overload. The food, the people watching, normal cafe sounds competing with the rhythm of waves against the shore and sea birds calling overhead, peddlers and wandering musicians interrupting casual conversation with friends to ply their wares and share their talents, (for a price). Oh, and the COLORS!

City of Illusion

That's Las Vegas. Why go 'round the world to see the REAL THING when you can find it in all it's fabricated splendor in the heart of God forsaken Nevada?

One Somewhere I'd Love To Be.......

....Or just about anywhere there is BIG WATER and nobody carping at me over details that mean nothing in the eternal scheme of things. My "happy place" almost always includes an ocean, at least nearby. The coasts of Mexico are great. Endless water, endless skies, loony-sounding exotic (to me anyway) birds, sun baking the tensions away, velvety sand between my toes..... better than heaven!?!

Resting Place On a Hill

Here's a very old photo of a lovely place I happened on long ago. Just a modest, historic cemetery in the woods and swamps of South Carolina. I doubt I could find it again, but sure would like to.

Somewhere Near Nag's Head...

... early in the morning. Getting to be a favorite time of day for me, at least when on vacation! Another old photo. I hope some developer hasn't come in and wrecked this quaint, beautiful spot. Sorry the shot is so grainy. It's about 25 years old (pre-digital).

Smell the Roses, and "Shoot" the Locals

,,,In this instance, critters like this flamingo and his/her friends at the San Diego Zoo.

And here...

The feline proprietor of a predictably dusty, but interesting antiques shop.

Love those flamingoes! You should visit the Camargue in southern France. There are flamingoes in the lakes all over the place. It's fun to see them fly overhead.
