I don't know personally, but I have heard that asking to take home the leftovers in a restaurant in some parts of Europe is just not acceptable. When you come to Canada, just remember that it is not only OK to take them, it is almost an insult to the restaurant if you don't.

People in Toronto come from more than 150 different countries. Generally, Torontonians are very accepting of different cultures and religions, and even eager to learn about others. Most people will go out of their way to be inclusive and to try not to offend people. i.e. Torontonians are culturally sensitive. If you are offended or feel that you have been discrimnated against, this is not acceptable, but in many instances this might just be a misunderstanding.
