  • There are several TV stations and networks that tape and broadcast talk shows from Toronto. If you are in town on a weekday, especially later in the year when the weather isn't that great this might be of interest. The tickets are usually free for the asking, you just have to request them in advance to guarentee that you get them for the days you are here.
You may want to start with the large network CTV (http://www.ctv.ca).
CityTV does two live shows daily, one is early (6 am) and the other is daytime. They usually give away free things to the whole audience and always have a draw for prizes. 'Breakfast Television' (http://www.citytv.com/bt/) is taped daily at 6am and has lots of stuff going on each day. 'Cityline' (http://www.citytv.com/cityline/) is a daytime talk show, with different topics for different days of the week, ranging from health to fashion to home decor. The studio is located at 299 Queen St. West.
Muchmusic, also located at 299 Queen St West does many of interviews with bands and performers that you can watch thorough the windows at where they tape. They also broadcast a dance show called 'Electic Circus' (http://www.muchmusic.com/electriccircus/) on Friday nights, to get on you just have to look good and show up. There are other shows on the Global Network (http://www.globaltv.ca) too, and the public service type network, called CBC broadcasts from a studio on Front Street (www.cbc.ca).

  • On summer weekends there is a Renaissance festival, complete with hawking, glass blowing, beer drinking, knife and axe throwing, swords, chivelry and jousting. You will almost think that you are an Elizabethan subject (that is Elizabeth I). Offically called The Ontario Renaissance Festival it is usually held just west of Toronto in the Oakville/Mississauga area. It is fun for everyone, but really doesn't have much to do with local history or culture.

  • Harbourfront refers to a section of the waterfront from the Ferry Docks to Bathurst St. It is a revitalized area that has art shops, antique shops, and entertainment all the time. Many weekends in the summer there are festivals and live entertainment. There are also many buskers, this is Leyland Gordon who we saw several years ago. Recently they have expanded and improved this area with a music garden.
