Paradise between the Jungle and the Sea

Chocó is located between the western edge of the Andes and the Pacific Ocean while bordering Panama on the north. It is also the only Colombian department to have coastline on both, the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean. Chocó is one of the most bio-diverse regions with unique ecosystems and unexploited natural resources. It receives the most rainfall in the world, astonishing 6 meters per year. The department is sparsely populated, known for its large Afro-Colombian population, and has one of the lowest standards of living in Colombia.

Chocó has some great eco tourism with pretty fisherman's bays, great hiking opportunities in the jungle, delicious seafood, and almost no tourists during the low season. My first plan was to go to Capurganá and then try to arrange a sailing boat to San Blas Islands in Panama. I've been told that Capurganá lately became very popular tourist destination so I changed my mind as I thought that wasn't what I was looking for. Natalie from Hostal Tamarindo suggested Triganá instead. On the day of my arrival, late in the afternoon, I went on a hike along the coast and came to the little settlement called San Francisco, better known as San Pacho. I immediately fell in love with the village and its people, found a nice cabaña, and the next day I just moved there :)

Oh wow, this region looks indeed magic! You have found precious accommodations and hikes, especially your dream house :-)) Love that too. But... haha, although I would like to try some fruit wine, not the ones with snakes inside, lol :-)
