Cali is the capital of the department Valle del Cauca. With a population of more than 2 million, it is the third largest city in country (after Bogotá and Medellin). Cali is a bustling city with a tropical climate and pleasant atmosphere. Evening breeze will cool you off in time for the party. Cali is known as the capital of rumba, street partying, dancing and salsa. It's famous throughout Latin America for Colombia's biggest festival, the Feria de Cali. It runs from Christmas to New Year.
Cali is one of the major economic and industrial centres of the country. It has a well preserved historical centre. Plaza de Caycedo is centrally located and surrounded by historic and modern buildings and also close to many historical churches. The city is rich in parks, squares and museums. In the Christmas time there are beautiful lights all along the Río Cali. The old, bohemian neighbourhood of San Antonio is a lovely area with arty cafés, shops and restaurants lining picturesque colonial streets. It is on a hill, and at the top you'll find a park and San Antonio church with fantastic view of the city. And for party lovers, Juancito is the salsa district with at least 30 salsa bars and salsotecas. Another spot to visit is along Avenida Sexta, the street of nightclubs and restaurants. |

I LOVE the street art - so colourful & imaginative! The azulejos too :-) This seems such an artistic city - the poetry, music, cultural centre. The market sounds great (mmm that fruit!) and San Antonio just my sort of neighbourhood |
