Caribbean Paradise at the Foot of Sierra Nevada

Parque Nacional Tayrona is a place not to be missed if you are in vicinity. Situated along the Caribbean coast, at the foot of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, it is considered one of the most pristine and scenic coastline parks in South America. Its stunning sand beaches are reached by a trail that leads through the rainforest and over giant white rocks shaped by the sea. You can walk along the ruggedly beautiful beaches and jungle tracks, there are many places to stop, or simply relax in the Caribbean sun when swaying in a hammock listening to the breeze rustling coconut trees. Off the coast are a number of coral reefs and nearby is the archeological site of Pueblito. Parque Nacional Tayrona is home to monkeys, iguanas, variety of lizards and many species of birds.

think I'll go to Tayrona too now :) Good idea to learn Portuguese sozinha, sort of started but don't know... would like something formal to force me to work at it, & talk with teacher or class. Back later to visit here better!

You really do go to lots of great-looking places! Fine photos in your tips and travelogues! Great that those indigenous groups are growing organic coffee!

Tayrona is beautiful! I slept in a hammock in Cabo San Juan in August 2008 and it was 12 000 pesos (not very cheap for a hammock). I also visited the beach beyond Cabo San Juan and it was not a nudist beach at that time, that is probably new.

Not really a beach person but this looks stunning. Nudist beach? Probably just trying to lure some German tourists. ;) Whoa, almost had me with that sand sculpture nude! Coffee tasting notes, I like this. Worth the wait once again.
