Home of the Longtails ? | Esplanade along Ao Nang beach |
Ao Nang beach is the tourist area located just outside of Krabi Town. Krabi town is pretty well locals only with a few exceptions as it is away from the beach. Krabi is accessible by air, sea and road. You can fly direct to Krabi airport (which is nice and new) or catch a taxi from Phuket (2.5 hours). There are connections to Bangkok from Krabi airport and also a few international connections as well. |
| | Island access ! Ao Nang and Krabi is another alternative departure destination for the tourist islands of Phi phi etc. Walk along the shore of Ao Nang at sunset and you can do a deal for a long tail to the islands for the next day. Other alternatives are booking a speed boat trip or ferry trip with one of the many travel agencies there. At the very southern end of Ao Nang you can score one of the cheapest massages I have seen in Thailand. There are countless beachside massage huts at the end of the esplanade. There is a great variety of local restaurants at the north end of the beach also. |
