Thai restaurant at Laguna Beach

A great place...

Phuket has been good to us so far. The food, shopping, accomodation and transportation can all be quite inexpensive. We have found shopping prices for clothes , shoes etc. to be just as competetive in Phuket as in Bangkok.
Dining out prices can vary greatly. You can visit local restaurants and eat main courses for 50baht or indulge in buffets at hotels from 400- 850baht.
As for transport, we prefer the taxis. They are an economical way to travel as well as air conditioned for those humid days!
30 minutes in a metered taxi can cost in the range of 100-160 baht , though metered taxis are all but gone in Phuket now. Most are an agreed price. Pre booked taxis or limousines are more expensive but at least guarantee the transfer at the correct time.
Yum Yum the elephant!

Elephants!

You can either agree or disagree with elephants being used for tourist purposes around the world. I guess there are good and bad trainers of these beautiful animals in many countries. I must say that the baby elephant/s at Laguna beach at the moment are treated very well indeed! You can see these wonderful elephants wandering through the resorts every day at 9am and 3pm. They stop for rides, pictures and of course 'tips' before heading for the beach to cool off for a swim.

Bang Tao Bay Beach

The laguna precinct is on the beach here at Bang Tao Bay. You will find an array of residential apartments as well as the upmarket hotels.
The beach here in high season is great for swimming.
