Peace and tranquility of Khao Lak | Sunset in July 2008 at Meridian Resort |
This little town in the province of Phang Na about 1.5 hrs drive north of Phuket Airport is a great place to chill out for a few days. No traffic noise, no aircraft, no high rises, no jet skis....just the sounds of the beach and nature. While this area was severely damaged during the Tsunami in 2004, it has risen from the past and reformed. Walking the beaches here you can be by yourself without being hastled by fellow tourists or pushy vendors. The beaches are clean with good white sand and an array of shells and coral to be found. There are some tours available from this town into the hills for safaris etc. but personaly I think its the laid back peacefullness that makes the place. Great for Romantic getaways or family holidays that will be remembered as your kids learn how to play again without computers! (although there is internet available here if required). |
