I have to say Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture is the most beautiful part of Sichuan Province, better than Jiuzhaigou, though I haven’t been to Yading, the precious stone of the crown. If I could, I would have traveled throughout Ganzi by foot because everything there is worth seeing. |
| | A local driver and a cross country vehicle (or a minibus) is necessary for most travelers. I admire those who travel from Xi’an to Lhasa on bicycles. I can’t, I’m not strong enough. So, a minibus and buses gave me the chance to enjoy this fantastic landscape. |
Towns like Danba, Kangding, Luding, showed their own characters to me. Hillside Villages surrounded by green trees, people dancing in the town squares, yaks and dogs in pastures. I loved what I saw and the stories I heard. Many Lamas ( Tibetan monks) can be seen in Tagong Temple which was built 1000 years ago. A recent-formed glacier and several frozen waterfalls can be found in Hailuo Gou ( Conch Valley).
Next time, I will go to Yading. | | |

goutammitra Sun Jul 27, 2008 13:27 UTC The glacier is wonderful so is the ice cave. How RMB is converted in Yuan or USD? Almost all the Tibetans we have seen are good Tanaka painters. They use it for living in India. | Jim_Eliason Mon Mar 3, 2008 02:50 UTC Nice tips Jasmine! | Museeuw Thu Aug 16, 2007 09:49 UTC I thought you weren't going to write any tips anymore about 'the place that makes Brecht sad because he hasn't been there yet'! Oh well, at least there are no new pictures. :-) | cachaseiro Mon Aug 6, 2007 11:32 UTC that looks like a very interesting place. i was in sichuan a few years ago but not in ganzi. hopefully next time :O) |
