San Juan Hotel Tips by allenk_007

The Wyndham El San Hotel & Casino is listed as one of the "Leading Hotels In the World" and for good reason. The expansive lobby with its HUGE chandelier is but one of the attractions. Indeed, the lobby is the place to see and be seen on a Saturday night as the locals strut their stuff and socialize with each other, the guests, and often with celebrities. I have seen many professional athletes, actors/actresses and others here. The night club goes all night. There are several top-shelf restaurants to suit any taste. The pools are beautiful, and the hotel sits right on Isla Verde Beach.

The rooms are nice but maybe not as modern as some, but the hotel is a classic. There are several boutiques, a cigar bar, and of course the casino.

Numerous other restaurants are within a very short walk.

I lived next door to this hotel for 5 years and wish I was still there!

Unique Qualities: Great pools and beach.
Excellent restaurants!!!

And of course the lobby!

The Embassy Suites is a nice hotel situated a block off from Isla Verde Beach. It is located in the Isla Verde section of San Juan, minutes from the airport. An Outback Steakhouse resides in the lobby. The lobby itself is nicely planted and there is a nice though not too large pool in the rear of the hotel.

The casino is smaller than some of the other hotels but usually busy.

Very nice for families or the business traveler.

This place must be seen to be believed. And, if the hotel itself is not enough, they have their own private island too. An excellent championship golf course, gorgeous pools, great restaurants and shops. Another of the great hotels in Puerto Rico for celebrity sightings.

Unique Qualities: This place makes you feel rich even if (like me) you're not!

Directions: Located in Fajardo, perhaps one hour east of the airport and San Juan. Located very near to the El Yunque tropical rain forest.

The Caribe Hilton is a very nice hotel at the gateway to Old San Juan. It sits adjacent to San Geronimo... the remnants of an old fort (there are two nicer forts minutes away in Old San Juan). The hotel boasts nice restaurants including a Morton's Steakhouse.

If the beach is your thing, this hotel lacks some of the others in Puerto Rico in general and San Juan in particular, yet it is seaside and located beautifully.
