i first came to Ethiopia to help my aunt and uncle settle in with thier newborn twin boys in Aug of 2003. my aunt works for Pact, a non-profit ngo and has been in Ethiopia for almost 10 yrs, my uncle was born and raised here. i stayed for about 3 weeks and traveled to Barhi Dar to see the Blue Nile Falls, and tour the monastaries of Lake Tana by boat as well as Debra Zeit to visit a Jerusalem Association Childrens Home (JACH) site with the former ambassador. i loved going to mercato and i volunteered at a private school called Alpha Primary School working with 7th and 8th graders to give them experience with a native english speaker.

i absolutely fell in love with the country and the people.

i have returned to Ethiopia (August 2006) to stay for a year while interning for Pact. i just had to return!! i will be working with the T.E.A.C.H, Nike scholarship, and WORTH projects as well as volunteering at a primary school to teach 6-8yr olds english. i plan on taking amharic lessons. I have recently traveled to Dessie and there will be many more trips around ethiopia because of work.
