Hungary, from the early XVI.century(partially) to 1918 was dominated by the Habsburgs, but if we don`t considere Sissy who wasn`t a real emperoress herself, and wasn`t even a real Habsburg, ony one, Maria Teresa, liked the hungarians at least a little bit of our numerous Habsburg sovrans. All the others hated us: this was a real family tradition. During her kingdom (1740-1780) an incredible quantity of awesome baroque churches were built in Hungary. Székesfehérvár is one of the best examples to illustrate, how the Arts flourished in that period. This city, in fact, has a very wellcoming baroque city centre, with great churches (see tips) and buildings.

In this image you can see the only gothic church (in reality a chapel) remained intact during the turkish occupation of the city. The old cathedral sadly was destroyed in this period.
