A vibrant downtown, full of shops, restaurants and bars. Lots of steep hills and cobblestones, so be careful of what shoes you wear or what you need to be carrying.

Lausanne has a beautiful waterfront, called the Quai d'Ouchy. It has a beautiful lake front walk, with a number of restaurants and shops for one stretch, then a more residential area, which also includes the Olympic museum.

A nice park outside the building with statues, gardens, etc is free. 14 CHF will get you into the museum. It's an interesting museum, with information and souvenirs from each Olympic games. They don't allow photogrpahs in certain parts of the museum....
