Rotterdam is the city were I study and live nearby. It's the 2nd largest city in the Netherlands, and so different from all other cities. It's full of modern architecture and its got a great mix of different cultures. Rotterdam speaks ALL languages.
Rotterdam is known as a swinging, hospitable & dynamic city, it's got a young city culture and excellent shopping facilities, restaurants and cafes.
No matter what interests you've got, or what your budget is, Rotterdam has got it all. Litterarly every corner of the streets of this lovely modern city will surprise you! | | Variety of things to see and do There are SO MANY THING TO SEE & DO in Rotterdam.
-Most famous are the inner city harbours The port of Rotterdam is the largest in Europe. During the Wolrd Harbour Days every 1st weekend of September, the Maas river is turned into a spectacle of giant boats.
-Modern Architecture & Skyline During the WOII the center of Rotterdam was bombed by the Germans, destroying much of the older buildings in the citycenter. So nowadays Rotterdam has become the site of ambitious new architecture. Well known are the Cube Houses.
The Erasmus Bridge; the tallest residential building in the Netherlands, the Montevideo Tower; the major tourist attraction the Euromast; They're all making Rotterdam standing in the best European SkylineTop (together with Frankfurt, Warsaw and Paris)
-A colorfull city a variety of different cultures Nearly 50% of the population are not native to the Netherlands. It's making Rotterdam rich of cultures and off course good food!! During Rotterdam's summer festivals (July & August) the city is celebrating it's multicultural population and identity, such as the Caribbean-inspired 'Summer Carnival'.
-There are lots of museums to visit, It's a shopping paradise, great nightlife for anyone... Once again, Rotterdam has got it all!

| | Study, education in Rotterdam Rotterdam is a great city for students. It's has one major university, the ERASMUS UNIVERSITY. Many of the departments are world renowned.
I'm at the INHOLLAND University studying Social work. The University award their students a Bachelor's degree and postgraduate or Master's degree. The school is build at a BEAUTIFUL location, at the Kop van Zuid (picture).
Lots of foreign students come here every year to experience 2 or 4 semesters studying in Rotterdam. They get appartments from the school university and dutch student buddy's to guide them through Rotterdam.
