| | Sunday Night Walk and Markets Chiang Mai's Sunday Night Walk was blast, I would rank it a lot better than the Chatuchak market in fun for sure, and I saw a lot of great stuff to buy there as well. The chance to taste a great variety of food was also a bonus. Chiang Mai still had a big city feel, but was manageable, and not a chaotic mess that I felt like Bangkok was. We had a day to kill before setting off for our hill tribe trek, there wasn't a lot to do within the city itself, but a day off wasn't a bad thing. |
| | Hill Tribe Trek I could spend a long time discussing what I thought about the hill tribes, how I respected their lifestyles of simplicity in the face of America's mass consumption habits. I wondered to myself if psychological illness like anxiety and stress and etc. were very prevalent in these societies? It displayed that needs for more and more are learned and not engrained into our being. So I wonder, since these people don't know any different, are they less happy? Are they less happy with internet and television? With the pressures to make more money and buy more things? The demands to work and have a family. It would be a shame to see lifestyles like these go on the wayside. Regardless of the introspection that a hill tribe trek may inspire, the whole experience was a blast. I hope that one day I can do it again, either in Southeast Asia or another part of the globe. I'd like to thank the group from 3rd Eye travel that provided me with such a great time |
