Montréal is a beautiful city on many different levels. Firstly, the city streets are clean and there is plenty of natural green space throughout the metropolis. Secondly, there is a plethora of varied, unique, and striking architecture. Also, although I’ve been told otherwise, Montréal seems like a very young city. With several major universities as well as community colleges, there are certainly a large number of young beautiful people out infusing the community with their vitality.
I traveled during the late summer months and was able to catch everyone sitting at street side cafes, lounging in the parks, or biking on Mont Royal. I’m sure winter-time is much different but I’d wager the cold weather doesn’t keep Montréalers indoors.
There is a great deal of diversity as would be expected in a major urban city and all of the different flavors – European, Arab, gay, straight, young, and old – seem to blend well. The nearly complete bilingualism of the native population only adds to the cultural mix. It has been said that Montréal is the most ‘European’ city in North America and I would have to agree. |

Tourtech Thu Jul 19, 2007 04:47 UTC Thank you so much for visiting our pages! We also love Montreal, but we also love Quebec City! It is a wonderful city in winter or summer. All the best and safe travels from travelling Canadians! | Carmanah Tue Sep 12, 2006 23:00 UTC What a great intro to Montreal! I've been 3 times now, but never in the summer... which is when it's at its most vibrant (so I've heard). I also went to Santropol and loved its ambiance. Great page overall! |
