Rocky Mountain National Park Travel Guide: 269 reviews and 630 photos

Rock Mountain National Park is a dream for mountain landscape lovers. I came for just one full day but was able to get in a couple of wonderful hikes. The Aspens were just starting to change color in mid September and that made for some great pictures. I stopped at the Estes Park visitor station (park headquarters) where park service guides helped me pick out a couple of half-day hikes and pointed me to good wildlife viewing areas. The elk were rutting so it was easy to see plenty of them. I hiked up to the summit of Deer Mt. and then used the shuttle bus to travel to the Glacier Gorge trailhead. I hiked up to Alberta Falls and back to Bear Lake. There was much more to the park but winter weather had caused a couple of road closures so I called it a day. If you love the outdoors I highly recommend this national treasure.
