The name Luxor comes from arabic Al-Uqsur wich means the castles! For anyone who has ever visited this great upper egyptian town the reason is obvious, it is filled on both sides of the Nile, with amazing temples. Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple on the east side, both dedicated to the local deity triad of Amun, Mut and Khons, and on the west side, impressing Funerary temples. Picture from maybe the most beautiful one; Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahri.
Did you know that Tina Turner claims to be Hatshepsut reborn? You are welcome in my flat any time, Tina! |

| | Feel at home! Luxor is a town of very friendly people, in addition to all the historical sites. it is wonderful to learn, but don't forget to have fun and to chat with the locals! A chat with your taxidriver can turn into your fondest memory of Luxor. |
