Thousand and one nights in Luxor

Luxor 4 care

Hello from little minna
Luxor4care is an organization supporting orphans and disabled children in Luxor. It is founded by non-egyptians living in Luxor, it is so wonderful to be able to give something back.

Opposites attract

Say hello to my wonderful husband Ahmed Khalifa. First time in Egypt I stayed for three months, and fell in love with my wonderful man. I didn't want to marry him though, thought it was too difficult. After four months I returned and had changed my mind. The picture is from our wedding party. After two years we're still going strong, my habibi albi... Have faith.

Temple tips for temple trips!

It is a great experience to visit the different temples of Upper Egypt, but there are some things to think about before going.

1. If you are in the summer, (from may to september) GET UP EARLY! The best time to visit is as soon as the sun rises. In the middle of the day the beautiful temple will turn into an oven and make it really hard to concentrate on reliefs, paintings or energies you want to experience.

2. Bring water! And if you forget, buy at the entrance! The high price there doesn't matter. It's better to have expencive water than no water when you are about to faint in Valley of the kings.

The picture shows me and little sister Kristina in Hatshepsut temple - in the middle of the day, but with water. Here we have found shade, and beautiful paintings protected from the sun.

Angels on earth

Let us recognize children for what they really are, wonderful angels with so much wisdom and love to share with us...

Let us work towards the goal that no children should have to be abused or work as grown-ups... All children should be able to explore themselves and the world around them feeling free and safe.

Picture of Zenab below is taken two days before her first day in school. Best of luck to you my girl!!

Riding it!!!

One of my favourite things to do as a child was horse-riding, but fell off as a teenager and got scared. But now, thanks to the stables in the West bank of Luxor, I am back on track.

And when we are at it, why stop after horses? Try a donkey, it's fun! Actually they are very strong animals, you won't kill it. It is shaky, but nice.

Then the next day go for a camel. The ship of the desert gently carry you through the villages, while hundred children wave at you. Allow yourself to feel like a fairitale queen or a bedouin prince... But don't forget to wave back... You will make their day.
