Luxor lies within the territory of South Upper between latitudes 25-36 North -32-33 east and away:

A distance of 670 km south of Cairo.
A distance of 220 km north of the city of Aswan.
A distance of 280 km south-west of Hurghada.
It consists of two parts Alavsr city land east and west separated Albert Nile given to the land in the eastern city of neighborhoods Ages Pharaonic temples where religious and palaces of kings and the general public and given to the western city of the dead land where cemeteries and synagogues funeral.

The total area of 416 square kilometers shorter included Dahir populated desert area and 208 square kilometres equivalent to 50% of total area

less than 500,000 in fact most of them work on agriculture and other are working on things related to tourism like hotels,restaurants and so on..
