This hotel appears to have once been a fairly high-class establishment housed in a single building, and has since absorbed several surrounding hotels and buildings (now called “wings”) which are not nearly as nicely built or maintained as the main building. Now consisting of several buildings connected together on multiple floors but with no consistent floor-numbering system, one can get lost and stay lost quite easily wandering around this mammoth complex.
On check-in we were assigned rooms in the secondary buildings which we inspected and quickly rejected. Advice: insist on the main building and avoid the other wings altogether.
The main building is a unique architectural statement built around a vast atrium with a large lounge/sitting area at its base, complete with indoor water features and a live band playing in the evening. The rooms were spacious enough to have a semi-divided sitting area by the window. The maintenance level was only acceptable - most showers had visible mold stains in them.
This hotel offers Thai massages, but be warned this is not what I would call a “spa experience” - highly trained, professional staff administering a wide array of massage techniques in an ultra-clean, well-appointed, and serene environment.
