Ferry from Brunei

We took the high-speed catamaran ferry to Labuan from Brunei. It took about 75 minutes.

Labuan is part of Malaysia, but has off-shore tax status. It is just off the north coast of Borneo, near Brunei. I had a meeting here, so we booked a cheap hotel just for half a day to be a base while we split up. One meeting was at the modern Financial Park Complex office block. The office was high up and had a good view of the harbour. The rest of the family walked around town.

Then we met up and all got into a taxi and got the driver to take us all around the island. We saw a WW2 cemetery, and Peace Park, Surrender Point (see tip), where the Japanese forces surrendered to the Australian forces at the end of the war.

The taxi dropped us off at the airport and we flew to Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. The airport was in a massive state of reconstruction and confusion, and our flight was over three hours delayed.
