"Population: 125,000 deer, 500 people!" Anticosti Island by FlyingOtter

Anticosti Island Travel Guide: 0 reviews and 2 photos

Welcome to deer paradise! One of my first work assignments took me to Anticosti Island, located in the St. Lawrence River gulf. At the end of the 19th century, white tail deer were introduced into the island to the great pleasure of hunters. The population has now grown to over 125,000, far outgrowing human population! They literally are everywhere on the island, including people's gardens and sometimes houses, and are not the least shy when it comes time to interact with their human neighbors and beg for some food!
