Fes - The City of 9000 streets Fes is a wonderful city with lots of charm. It is a World Heritage Site and is very interesting, but to me very irritating as well. Fes has literally thousands of small streets that make it almost impossible to get around without a guide. I don't think it is particularly dangerous, but you would be better off by hiring a guide. There are also some nice side attractions that you can take...like spending a few nights in the desert or take an excursion to other parts of Morocco. Morocco, overall, can be very irritating. People are very poor and will charge you for even the smallest piece of advise or help. I loved the old city and all its streets, but you will constantly be bombarded with offers for everything, and at a price. If you walk into a store you had better buy something, because they will get mad if you don't. I suggest you stay only a few days in Fes and then move on. |
