Upper Kaaterskill Falls - Catskill State Park

Kaaterskill Falls (upper)

This is off a 1/2 mile trail near the bridge and bend in Route 23A near
and below Tannersville. Beautiful spot. Falls can be also
viewed from another trail from
above ( near North/South Lake entrance, on right) but
it is a dropoff and the view is obstructed somewhat from there.

This is a view through a telephoto lens so it looks closer
but gives a good overview of the northern Catskill peaks
This was taken as the leaves were coming out.

Bastion Falls near the road on Route 23A

These falls are the same stream that follows the trail to the
upper and lower Kaaterskill Falls The water from Kaaterskill falls
flows down through here. This is right off the road near the turn and bridge

Pros and Cons

Pros:Many nice waterfalls, some mountain and river valley views
Cons:Many areas wild and remote - summits can be only reached on foot.

those falls on 23 are called Bastion falls, gorgeous area!!! :)
