This is the view looking back at Mount Desert Island from
Frenchman's Bay on Bar Island, the first of the Porcupine Islands
One can walk out to this island on a strip of sand (causeway)
at low tide. Have to watch the tide schedule, one could get
stranded out there if went out there at the wrong time. |

Power boats are available for rent and they are the
best way to see the sights and get a distant view of

| | Pink Granite mountains of Acadia National Park This is Champlain Mtn (1053 ft) and Huguenot Head.
There is a nice hiking trail up here from the west side.
Don't go up the Precipice Trail unless you are physically
prepared for the challenges, and are not afraid of heights
It scales up vertical ladders. The peregrine falcons
nest here so they close that trail at times. West and north
sides of this mountain have more gradual slopes. |
