It doesn't get much better than this for a quiet beach. |
| | In Town The town itself is rather congested, and filled with typical tourist shops and hotels. There are a few interesting highlights: the oldest church on the island, a classic old bar, and the royal palace. But outside of town there are some great beaches, small towns, coffee plantations and historical places of interest. |

| | Pu'uhonua O Honaunau Park - Place of Refuge This national historical park is worth a visit for several reasons. One, for a historical insight to Hawaii. Second, for the absolutely beautiful location. And third, for good snorkeling nearby. |

jumpingnorman Sat Mar 21, 2009 04:11 UTC I can't believe I've never gone out of the airport in Hawaii! It's always just a stopover, but one of these days I'll see those beaches...very nice pics and tips! Norman :) --I'm using my new netbook and still not used to the smallness.... | evilprebil Thu Dec 13, 2007 00:43 UTC Thanks for stopping by my Philly page I'm always surprised how cool of a city it really is. Great tips on the Big Island!! - I drank A LOT of coffee while there : ) | karenincalifornia Thu Aug 9, 2007 05:09 UTC Hi Tom, beautiful photos! We were in Kona 18 years ago, can't believe it has been that long - such a beautiful part of Hawaii. The Kona coffee was outstanding - for some reason the Kona coffee on the mainland is just not the same... |
