"Never enough time to see it all." London by trvlrtom

Interesting and Diverse Neighborhoods.

I don't know how to summarize London. It is immense and full of variety. Each area has its distinct attributes and attractions, and after having lived in London for a few months and visiting a few more times, I feel like I've only begun to scratch the surface.

Now I try to have stopovers of a few days when I fly from the US to Europe, just so I can explore a little more of this great metropolis.

Places to Walk

Despite its size, London is a great city for walking. The many big parks provide greenery and breathing space after seeing sights. The walking bridge is a great way to get from sights on the two banks.

With its extensive underground system, it is really easy to get to the general area of any major sight and walk around.

Really good food

There was a time when England had a reputation for bad food. Those days are long past. Like anywhere, you can find bad and boring food, and London has its share. But the many ethnic restaurants and so many good restaurants trying new things, the intrepid traveler will never go hungry.

In my opinion, England has some of the best cheeses and beers in the world.

Interesting fact about th millenium bridge's handrails....I'll check out what Ove Arup have to say about it. Another one of their not-quite-finest moments.

Tom, I note you went to Borough market. WE went there to find oner of the treasure hunt clues as part of out London VT meet. It's a terrific place on a Saturday. Agree about the beer and Cheese - though France is a very close second for Cheese. Mike
