City of plazas and platanos (sycamore trees)

Statue of San Martin in the like named plaza
Mendoza is known to be one of Argentina's more attractive cities. It is located near the foot of the Andes mountains, which provides a beautiful background to the urban area. The city streets are lined with sycamore trees, nourished by water brought to the city by a network of canals running along the city streets. In the heart of the city there is the large Plaza de Independencia, and symetricley situated around the center are four other plazas, each with its own identity: Plaza de Italia, Plaza de San Martin, etc.

Upsallata Day Trip

North west of the city of Mendoza is Upsallata, a beautiful region in the foothills leading to the Andes. The movie Seven Years in Tibet was filmed here.

Very interesting and enjoyable tips on your experiences in Mendoza! My wife and I really enjoyed this city as well. When we visited Los Penitentes ski-hill we had a very enjoyable 'summer' experience!
